PhD dissertations


The library collects, compiles and makes available PhD dissertations defended at UPWr. Doctoral dissertations are available in printed or electronic form.

In accordance with Order No. 39/2021 of the Rector of UPWr, dissertations are submitted to the Library's Office  before the defence.

PhD dissertations can be consulted before the defence:

  • in the General Reading Room – 10 days before the defence (doctoral proceedings open up to and including 30 April 2019),
    in the Public Information Bulletin of UPWr (BIP) – 30 days before the defence (doctoral proceedings open from and including 1 October 2019).

The contents of defended dissertations not made available in the Open Access model can only be consulted on site, in the General Reading Room.

A PhD dissertation as a work is subject to protection under the rules set out in generally applicable legislation, in particular the Act of 4 February 1994 on Copyright and Related Rights (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 1231, as amended).

In the case of a PhD dissertation whose subject matter is covered by a legally protected secret or in the case of the author's obligations under contracts concluded with other entities, only the abstract of the dissertation is made available.
