Location and opening hours
The Main Library of the University of Wrocław is located in the inner courtyard of the main building of the University. Entrance No. 2 is intended for readers (opposite the building of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine).
There are also three Faculty Libraries on the University's campuses - two in Biskupin (WPT, WBiHZ), one in Plac Grunwaldzki (WIKŚiG).
We are open during regular hours. We post any changes on our website.
Using the Main Library and Faculty Libraries
The UPWr library is an ideal place to study, work and relax - in comfortable spaces you can study in silence, discuss a project or relax between classes.
We make our resources available to all interested parties - on site in the Library - and we also lend our collections to registered people. We enable remote access to licensed e-resources for students, PhD students and employees of UPWr who have a library account.
Using the library is tantamount to accepting the regulations.
Who can use the UPWr Library and under what conditions?
Signing up to the UPWr Library
To be able to borrow textbooks, scientific literature, fiction and board games, as well as remotely use licensed e-resources, it is worth signing up to the library.
Logging in, borrowing books
You can log in to your library account via the Aleph catalog or the Multisearch engine. After logging in, the user can, among others:
Part of the book collection is available on free access to the shelves. However, most books must be ordered before borrowing - to be picked up at the lending desk or at a pick-up locker. In the Faculty Libraries, collections are made available immediately, without the need to order them in advance. The borrowing limit depends on the user's status.
Returns and extension of the rental period
Returns of borrowed materials are accepted in the Lending Room, through the drop box located on the outer wall of the Main Library building, or through the book pick-up locker. You can extend the return deadline yourself via your library account.
Settlement of charges
Missing the deadline for returning the book or losing it? All amounts due to the Library can be settled by card or transfer.
Provided resources
Catalogs and licensed e-resources are open to Library users. Here you can find printed materials, e-books, e-magazines and many databases. We also provide PhD theses and legal norms.
