What is ORCID?

ORCID is an international system for identifying an author and their work. It is available to any researcher regardless of career stage.

ORCID advantages and benefits for the author

  • enables a researcher to be uniquely identified
  • it is a universal identifier, completely free and independent from commercial publishers
  • increases the visibility of the researcher's work online
  • enables the integration of the scientific output with other databases and identifiers: Scopus (Author ID), Web of Science (ResearcherID), PBN ID
  • is used by publishers to identify authors and correctly index their work throughout their scientific activity
  • easy to use

According to the Order No. 125/2018 of the Rector of the Wroclaw University of Life Sciences dated 9 October 2018 on obtaining an individual ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) number, persons conducting scientific activity at the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences are required to register in the ORCID system.
