Funding is provided for the Open Access Publication Charge for an article (APC - Article Processing Charge) and a Level II monograph - 200 pts. (BPC - Book Processing Charge).
Costs of the pre-press process (e.g. editing, proof-reading, translation, reviews, preparation of the final version in the correct format and others) are not covered by funding.
No funding is provided for scientific publications in the OA model that can be covered by the open access publishing programmes of the WBN or where they can be funded from other available sources.
An educational and research institution may include universities, but also PAN units or research institutes subjected to evaluation. Whether a given entity is a scientific unit can be checked in the System for the Evaluation of Scientific Output in Statistics.
The library's website lists the titles of journals covered by funding. Please note the date the publication was sent to the publisher as the lists are updated.
It is irrelevant whether a person currently has student status: they must have it at the time of sending the publication/monograph to the publisher. It expires upon graduation (defence of the Bachelor or Master’s diploma exam) or removal from the list of students. The publishing process usually takes time, so it may happen that the student becomes a graduate of UPWr during this time - however, this will not be an obstacle to obtaining funding.
A voucher is a form of publication discount that is allocated by certain publishers. Among others, MDPI reviewers receive them. In applications for publication funding, vouchers are treated as the author's own contribution.
A publication/monograph is written in international collaboration when at least one author affiliates exclusively to a foreign institution. If an author affiliates simultaneously to a national and a foreign institution, we only include the former.
An appropriate application form should be completed and sent to the UPWr Main Library at biuro.biblioteka@upwr.edu.pl. A separate application applies for publications presented as theses.
The application must be accompanied by:

Detailed rules for the 2024 subsidy can be found in the Regulations for publication funding in §3.
The possibility of funding is determined based on:
To receive funding, publications submitted to the publisher must have a minimum of 140 points and quartile Q1 or Q2, or be among the TOP journals according to the Shanghai Ranking - in the latter case they receive 100% funding regardless of the other criteria. Authors of publications presented as thesis can count on 100% funding irrespective of the number of points or quartile of the journal, after meeting the criteria in § 3.7 of the regulations.
A peer-reviewed monograph published at the publishing house with 200 points assigned according to the ministerial list may be subsidised.
