Ordering and sharing

In case of a lack of publications in the UPWr Library and other libraries in Wrocław, it is possible to obtain a document from national libraries. If none of the Polish libraries have access to it, materials can be downloaded from German, Austrian or Swiss libraries via the SUBITO system.

The interlibrary loan service provided by national libraries is in most cases free of charge. The requesting party is responsible for possible costs resulting from the fees set by the respective supplying library.

Requests from foreign libraries are subject to a fee. The cost depends on the order in question. If the ordering party is an employee, please enclose a certificate of payment (including the source of funding), certified by the head of the relevant organisational unit of the University.

The order can be placed electronically (by sending an e-mail to wypozyczalnia.bg@upwr.edu.pl) or in person, at the Main Library (by filling in a form available on the spot). In the order content, the exact bibliographic description of the item sought and contact details must be provided.

The availability of ordered materials depends on the form in which they are delivered by the ordering library:

  • borrowed books or yearbooks / journal issues – available on the spot, in the General Reading Room (according to the rules established by the borrowing library)
  • photocopies / prints – to be collected at the Main Library
  • scans – sending a file to the e-mail address given in the order (or collection of a printout in the case of restrictions on the part of the library providing the scan)
  • materials brought in via the SUBITO system – receipt of a paid printout from an electronic copy (the way of collecting the printout is established individually with the Interlibrary Loan staff)
